880 hydraulics ?

My 880 has dual hydraulics. Can I run a wood splitter which has its own hydraulic control and how would I connect the outlets. Thanks.

If you hook up to the tractor remotes, the system will relief except when you operate the wood spliter valve. You could set up the tractor for power beyond. Remove the front plug of the five on the left side of the 880 hydraulic unit. About 2 inches in install a 3/8" pipe plug and attach a hose at this outlet. This hose goes to the log splitter and the other hose from the splitter returns a 3/8" port on the right side of the filter. When you are not using the splitter the two hoses on the tractor need to be connected together, or you will need to remove the 3/8 plug from the left side.

Check the pressure (PSI)and flow rate (GPM) specifications of your 880's hydraulic system. Many log splitters were sized to use 3000 psi hydraulics. If you 880 only delivers 1000 or 1500 PSI your log splitter may be under powered. What size pump and engine were originally on the log splitter?

Fuel use may also be a problem. It's hard to push more than 1/2 gallon per hour of gas through a small engine powered log splitter.
