881 SOS top speed

Anyone know the ACTUAL speed of an 881 in tenth gear at 2400RPM? I don't think the Tractor data listing is right.

I don't have one here to try that yet. The EARLY 4000 which is similar shows top speed is 18 MPH for the SOS, I thought they were a bit faster than that.

18 MPH advertised at 2200 RPM and standard 12 X28 tires, so at 2400 RPM a little faster.

Actual top speed is dependent on what size wheels and tires it has. The standard wheel size was 28", but there were a few other sizes available.

Recalling best I can, 28 wheels were used with 12.4 and 13.6 width tires. I assume the 12.4 was for row crop use (fit between rows of plants) and the 13.6 for general all around use. The 24 wheel was used with the wider 14+ diameter wheel....forget the decimal......I had one 4000 with 14s the rest of the corral was with 13.6s All 3 sizes are in the Ford OEM data manuals.
