8n 12v starter

i have a 1947 8n. i bought a starter online and it does not work. with it instaled the engine can not be hand cranked. the starter it self either grinds and slowly turns a little or clicks and does not turn at all. might i have the wrong starter? does anyone know what might be wrong?

Jared.......surprizingly enuff, the ORIGINAL 6V starter motor does just fine on 12V. Infact it even cranks a little faster for quicker starts in cold weather. No need to squander yer money on BAD 12V starter motor.

Same with the 3-termial 6V-starter solenoid; works just fine on 12V.

Do I haffta tell ya yer expensive fleabay 12V-starter motor is BAD??? .......Dell, yer self-starter

Pull the starter and take it to an Auto parts house. Most will check it for free.
