I recently bought a 47 8N with a Sherman under over. When I bought it the lift arms didn't move when I pulled the draft control but after 5 to maybe 10 seconds the left arms started to lift and I thought okay well this tractor hadn't run in years not a problem. Well I've since done other work to it and was driving around and noticed that the lift arms won't do anything anymore. Hydraulic fluid looked clean the level was good. I ended up pulling the top cover off and taking a look inside. I wasn't really able to see much so I ended up draining out the fluid and the bottom had a lot of thick sludge. I dumped a few gallons of Diesel in the back and flushed it out and put about a gallon of regular hydraulic oil I had in there and was able to manually engage the lever and get hydraulic oil to shoot out of the tube probably a foot and a half or so. I since drained that oil out and reinstalled the cover. Unfortunately I think that something's not quite right with the draft control arm that goes into that little ball socket. To me it appears that when I line up the shift lever in that ball socket and drop it into place that rocker arm with the ball joint appears to be pushed forward into the engaged position. I don't know if I've bent the arm that comes down or maybe it's supposed to be that far forward? The Ike and t manual that I have for the n series does not really cover this. I don't want to have to add the 5 gallons of UTF just to find out that something's in the wrong position and have to see where the arm needs to be. Any help on this would be appreciated and any additional information that might be of use that the IMT manual definitely doesn't cover I would definitely appreciate.
Thanks
