Greetings. I have a carb problem, which is similar to others posted here, but not exactly the same. gas pouring out of the intake port, but not until I crank the motor and try to start it. Fule level is good, as is float lavel. NOt overflowing from the bowl- any ideas? Should I try to rebuild this one, or get another carb?
Thanks

so, with air hose off the carb mouth, it's fine.. then once you try to start, gas starts steadilly pouring out the mouth?

I still tink that's a float / valve issue. float may be hangin up on the carb bowl wall.

Are you excessively choking it during the start attempt?

Ron......you write......"Fule level is good, as is float lavel. NOt overflowing from the bowl"......and then complain......"gas pouring out of the intake port"......uh? isn't "NOt overflowing" incompatible with "gas pouring out of the intake port"???

Howsomevers: many times the float valve SEAT is not seated down tight and leaks BEHIND the seat yet float level is correct. You really haffta HONK DOWN on the valve seat with wideblade hollow ground screwdriver. Most wideblade screwdrivers are "wedge-shaped" and will waller out the brass-slot in the float valve seat. Its eazy to "hollow-grind" yer wide-blade screwdriver on grinder. ......Dell

If you have a m/s tx series carb, rebuild it, the new
ones are not nearly as good. You can rebuild it
fairly easily if you take your time and pay
attention to instructions.Suggest comprehensive
kit,it has all jets ,etc.---lha

Gentlemen: Thank you very much. I'll try rebuilding it. And honking down on the screw. I know, it sounds weird, and it is: float level is good, yet fuel comes out the intake throat. NO, I did not over choke it- it starts coming out when the engine starts to turn over and there is vacumn in the intake.
Thanks for the suggestions. I was not looking forward to buying a new carb- andrebuild is so simple.
Thanks

Dell,
What does hollow ground mean and what does it look like? Have heard this term applied to knives.
