8n carb trouble

I have recently put a rebuilt engine back into my 8n ford. Just started it up and it did start.....but after a few minutes it died and fuel started leaking out the carb....alot of fuel. I shut the fuel valve off and i removed the air pipe....and it was full of fuel too. I have another carb...one of those new carbs you can buy and it did the same thing.

Main mixture screw was all the way in, then out 1 full turn
air.fuel screw all the way in then i full turn out and Idle screw was all the way out then turned in until the screw hit the pin.

Any suggestions on what i am doing wrong.....is it possible both carbs are not working properly? (oringinal carb came with tractor, and the new style was a spare)

THanks

The needle valve is either stuck in the seat
or the float is hanging up or defective.

Rap the side of the bowl with the a hammer
handle.

If that doesn't work, remove the carb and
find the cause of the problem.

Sounds like you have trash in your tank if it has happened to two carbs. Have you ever cleaned the fuel bowl on the tank or the screen filter in it?

When u disassemble carb again, check to be sure the float needle seat is good n tight--has
a small flat gasket under the seat--sitting up could have shrunk or last time assembled,
the seat might not have been tightened down good..Odd it would but it could happen on both
ur carbs..

Just installed the rebuilt engine, tank, fuel lines, fuel shut off all cleaned prior to being installed.

The carb on it is the original and had been sitting for over 2 years on the bench...the newer offshore carb had been sitting for 5 years. I will take apart and check the float needle

thanks
