8N Ford carb problem?

I"m working on my friends 8n. He called and said he had to run the choke to get it to run last time he was on it. As of now it turns over good and lots of spark, but is not hitting. Has good fuel supply. I"m thinking its time to rebuild the carb but thought I would see If I was right or not. Thanks for any help.

less thinking/guessing.. more testing

if it's getting fuel TO the carb.. that's great.

is it also getting fuel THRU the carb?

check carb bowl drain.

once you verify that... are you getting fuel TO the cyls?

check for wet plugs.

if no gas gets to the cyl.. but does go THRU carb.. then you know the main fuel circuit needs help.

this of course assumes you have compression...
