8n ford trans

well got into the trans to find 2 gears broken, got them replaced today and now I find out the top rod has its detent spring and ball missing, and how does that one stay in the whole there is no treads for a screw,help, my email is open, I know the two on the sides have a screw.And were can I find these parts????? Shift cover holds it in place... The ball is a 3/8" steel ball (very common and cheap),,, the sprang and ball (get severall balls that are used thu out the tractor, all the balls on a N are 3/8" 8)) can be found at the dealer... are robbed from a salvage tractor...

edited,, most any good ford tractor parts house should have it,,, I have'em but it would cost me more to fudge with shipping them than its worth ... Try external_link add the www.

Drained and flushed the transmission fluid last year. It was milky looking but flushed it pretty good until it looked normal per say. Looked good at end of summer and haven't used it since around October other than to start it a few times. Checked it yesterday prior to disking garden and its cloudy again. Any suggestions? Also what fluid does anyone recommend servicing with.
