8n hood/radiator problem

My problem is that my radiator neck doesn't stick up quit enough for
the wing cap to go on. Needs about a 1/4 in more.
This is a new hood and doglegs due to the bad condition of the old
ones. Also the radiator is new. From nnalert.

I have already raised the radiator up using an extra pad underneath.

So to sum up..... the radiator has two pads underneath it and it still
needs an extra 1/4 for the cap to fit properly.

Any ideas. Thanks.

Could very well may be the wrong Radiator. I would call nnalert and talk to them about your problem. Several years I bought a rust bucket that had a Ferguson radiator in it and PO cut a large hole in hood to get a cap on it. It was shorter than an 8n radiator.

Bought a new radiator for a 2N. Had the same problem you described. Accidently pulled up on the cap and it rose about an inch -- just enough to work right. I figured it was going to leak big time but I needed to get mowing. Holds pressure fine. No idea as to how this worked.

Talk to your supplier about it.

Sounds like an aftermarket radiator.

If possible, have your OEM radiator repaired or re-cored.

Years ago I put my fan thru my original radiator and thus needed a new radiator. I went to my local tractor yard -used equipment as well as the Kubota dealer now. I purchased an aftermarket radiator and installed with the correct bumper pads. The cap barely fit on and was scraping the hood when it was on. You can't shim the radiator up too much as the shroud will hit the fan blade. I lived with that for a few years until I bought another original restored radiator and that has been on since with no cap interference. I suspect it is the radiator and not the new hood. Contact Derek at nnalert and discuss with him possible solutions.

Hit the easy button and take the shroud off
and shim it up some more. If you really
want or need a shroud. Slice it in 2 so
you have a top and botTom piece.

I have replaced the radiators in 8ns. I order new ones from Radiator Depot. Had no trouble with them. I took one OEM 8n radiator to get it repaired. That was a mistake. It cost me $360.00. The aftermarket cost me under $200.

Makes it very hard to sell a $360 radiator.

I have had a lot of trouble with Dennis Carpenter parts.
