8N hood

Just in case some of you don't know this, if you are 77 years old, don't have a cherry picker or a helper, and the tank is half full, getting the hood off is HARD. I'm not feeling sorry for myself because it is my fault I had to do it. I let all the smoke out of the clutch trying to bush hog some really thick blackberry briers. Felt so sorry for the Little tractor that I went out and bought a Massey Ferguson 135 diesel. But I still have to split the 8N. Wonder what I will try to do with the MF that will break it. Dad had three we used doing custom hay bailing. 165, 175 and a cab 1085. The only thing I remember that broke due to operator error was the 175 cast piece that held the axle pin, radiator and front end loader. We used it for raking and loading round bails at the same time. We usually pulled the loader off. When it broke we were loading every pass or two so it stayed on. Not sure if it didn't like bouncing around the pasture or my brother hitting a pecan tree with the spear. A local shop made it good by grinding a V in the crack and welding it up. We used it for another couple of years without a loader.

At 6 lbs per gallon, draining the tank would take 30 lbs off of the weight.

Might want to do that before you put it back on.

Reomack, when it is time to split it do it as shown in Hobo's link. Support and roll the rear with the trailer jack and block the front. Easier and safer than rolling the front!!
