8N hydraulics

(quoted from post at 01:36:57 11/23/22) Were there any revisions to the hydraulic lift or pump over the 8N's production run?

Thanks
ot that I have ever known about.

ALL 8N's used the same Hydraulic Pump & Setup System, [47]/48-52 and was a revamp of the older 9N/2N System, which had DRAFT CONTROL only. The 8N system introduced POSITION CONTROL, and the two setups will not interchange. When the NAA was released in SEP 1952, one of the new changes was the hydraulic system which now used a vane pump. What kind of 'revisions' are you thinking of?

Thanks for the info. Parts are occasionally "improved" over the length of a production run so I was just wondering. I own a 1953 Ferguson TEA-20 with week hydraulics. In theory the lift cover and pump form an 8N should drop right in. I have the 8N parts available to me locally for less money than the correct Ferguson parts. Also the 8N hydraulics would give me position control and about 400lbs more lift capacity.

ot sure about your TEA-20, but the lift cover of an 8N will not fit a 9N without at least one modification to the tractor rear housing.
