8N ignition key

I'm thinking of buying a friend's 8N and the key is MIA. My question is this: Did they make the keys all the same, so one key fit all tractors? It's likely if I do buy it that I'll just replace the ignition with either a keyed switch or a toggle. Just wondering out loud, and if there's anything else I should be aware of with that particular ignition switch. Tractor was running and used regularly when parked, just been dormant for a good long while.
Thanks in advance. Gerrit

If it is the original switch or a correct replacement, the same key was used for many tractors and years.
Thanks. It’s a fairly original tractor, been in the family since new. It’s likely the original switch but I doubt anyone knows one way or the other. Easy enough to replace if necessary.

Or you could just eliminate the key switch and go with a standard toggle switch as I did on my 8N. In my 56 years I've never heard of a tractor being stolen around here... someone did try to steal a diesel oldsmobile years ago but that was a thief without scruples and never got it started.

Could just put this one in too and be done...
