8N Levelling Box

So I was clearing some snow yesterday, when I let the 3 point hitch down I noticed the threads on the shaft are flattened and actually move about an inch inside the assembly when the blade hits the ground. When you lift the hitch the threaded shaft comes out about an inch. I finished up and took it off, I can push/pull the threaded shaft about an inch or so in/out of the assembly.
I'm thinking not much can be done with what I have, would that be a correct assumption?
I back up a lot to push snow and wondering if I should replace it with a regular yoke rod, or not. My reason for asking is I would think it might hold up better with no chance of this happening again.
My buddy has one off of a Massey 65 that he said I could have but I don't know yet if it will fit. If it doesn't I can get a used one from the local shop.
What do you think?

Or you could try one of these. Available at your local Farm Store.

I never even thought of that, thanks Del.
So if one of those would work, could you take it a step further and use one of those ratchet style type?

The way that it's stripped out it doesn't look like it can be used, I could be off base though.
oth internal & external threaded parts are available.

I believe I had this problem on my 9N. The PO rigged the threaded parts together as they were worn out by free play in the leveling box. When I disassembled the box I found the bearing was completely missing. New and missing parts have it working again.

Well my local guy didn't have a used one, and the one my buddy had from his Massey was kind of buggard up. I was pricing the parts to repair mine and for and extra $10 bucks I could get a new one and they had it on the shelf. I'm all fixed up and ready for snow, thanks for all the reply's.

So I used my tractor to clear some snow last night. I noticed that the blade was leaving a fair amount of snow behind as well as the leveling box adjustment handle was hitting/riding on the axle trumpet.
I kept adjusting the leveling box to no avail. I was messing with the top link a bit too and that seemed to help a little.
I like to keep an aggressive forward tilt on the blade (ie shorten up the top link) to really scrape up the snow.
I am currently using a 20" top link.
To get the angle I want without the leveling box handle hitting the trumpet should I use a 16" top link instead? I'd rather ask first then trudge through 4 ft of snow.
