8N lift won't drop

8N lift arms come up relatively good but then they won"t go down quickly when the lever is dropped. It will bleed down over a week or so. New oil. Please help.

Ok a question first. Are you talking with out a piece of equipment on the 3 point or with a piece of equipment. I'll take a guess that your talking with out equipment on it and if that is true that is normal because there is little or no weight on the arms and it is gravity down. Or maybe you didn't know it was power up and gravity down so no load means slow to go down

No piece of equipment but the other 50 Ford tractors that I own (owned) will go down slowly vs not moving down at all with (at a minimum) my body weight.

Would the valve have anything to do with it? I took the lift cover off and everything seemed OK. I removed the side cover and pryed the rod that goes into the pump valve slot and it kinda broke free and that worked for awhile but the next day it would not drop again.

Yes if the valve does not move like it should that could be the problem. The I-T FO-4 manual explains things real well so if you do not have one you need to get one
