Just picked up another 8n. Didn't notice it when I bought it, [ spur of the moment auction purchase] but it has the overdrive tranny in it. Cable shift on the dash. rusted tight. Reading in the archives that was common and why they quit using that type. What to do. can you get a new cable shifter? haven't done alot of searching. Figured someone here could point me in the right direction. thanks

I made one from an emergency brake cable, cut the ends off of the rusted one and braze them on the brake cable.

thanks for the info. Couldn't find the cable reproduction on red rock web site. Looks like to change to a lever style involves a tractor split.. Its a winter project, so have time to gather info.

Just Google Sherman trans cable and a bunch of places will come up. No need to split the tractor just pop the steering box up. Since the cable system came in step up and step down what makes you think it’s a step up?

Thanks for the info. It runs in the neighborhood of 25mph in 4th, so i guessed it was a step up. Guess I should have googled it before i posted
