8N overhaul

Just got my 8N back after an overhaul by a local mechanic. Seems to run OK but has kinda of a popping noise coming out of the exhaust pipe, not real loud, just kinda odd to my ear after running the old girl for the past 34 years. Any ideas?

I'd check to make sure the firing order is correct these old girls will run decent on only two cylinders but have no power.

Which 8n are you talkinga bout, front dist or side? Side dist, might need to fine tune the timing.

I forgot to add, it's a front mount, and the sound is more of a putt putt sound.

Check for exhaust leak.

Is it a regular or irregular "popping?"

If irregular, it is probably dropping a cylinder (missing) at idle due to ignition or mixture issues.

If regular and the ignition is functioning correctly, it could be a burnt, stuck or improperly adjusted exhaust valve.
