8n paint sealer

I have a 51 8n that I painted about 6 months ago. I wanted to get some feedback on if I should spray a sealer or gloss finish on the sheet metal and the cast to help with fading etc. and if there is any downsides to doing this.

I have clearcoated paint that was not designed as a base coat with good results. However, I cleared mine right after spraying the color paint. I doubt you would have good results after all this time.
