8N position control

Our 8N 3pt goes all the way down or all the way up like a 9N. Has something happened inside like a rod that is disconected?
 
It is possible that someone has replaced the top cover and hydraulic pump with one from a 9N...or you could have a mutt tractor that has a 9N back with 8N engine. Is the trans 3 or 4 speed? Both brake pedals on one side or are they separated? Have you removed the inspection plate and verified that the 8N cover and hydro pump are in fact what you have?
 
8n covers and linkage only mate with 8n pumps and vs with 9n.. an 8n top cover is visually different than a 9n due to the draft control handle.
