8N Prices Going Up

It seems that average prices for "N" tractors around here are rising. When I bought my '48N in 2010, decent running 8Ns could be had for between $1500 to $2000. Lately, the same condition tractors are running more like $2000 to $2500.

Of course there are always exceptions to the rule, but I'd say the trend for higher priced Ns are real in these parts (central OK).

I have seen no evidence that prices of vintage tractors are increasing aside from seasonal effects.

Been that way around my neck of the woods for years. I can't ever remember seeing a running 8n sell for $1500.00. Friend of mine paid $3500.00 for one the other day. Not a show tractor either. Just a little above average with a cheap paint job.

Can't give them away around here. Can't find one anymore, people are holding on to them instead of giving them away. When you do find one, its junk.

Around northeast ohio prices are dropping.
I am sitting on around 8-8n's because I stopped giving them away. You can pickup a decent running one around here for 800-1000.00

Prices are all over the place around here...both of these were found on 1 city in C.L. in March.

tractor prices here for the last 3 ys started to steadilly drop. it got to a point last year that N and small fords , even int he 3 cyl range were in the 1200-1800$ range for runners, and good lookers in the low 2's even saw a 4000 orchard go for 2500$

smaller tractors or ones with a flaw were sub 1000$

that ran like that for a couple months.. and now their all gone. hardle see a tractro by the road for sale. all the good deals got gobbled up, and the economy has been so bad that anyone that had anything to sell.. already sold it.. and everyone else is keeping or using what they have.

see alot more old tractors doing work, vs new ones.

local pip laying co is using osme 70's era tractro to pull it's pipe wagons... fence people are running around town using old mf 35/135 and ford 2000/3000 with augers. lotsa 4000 size tractors doing commercial mowing. plenty of farmers working with older large iron from the 70's and 80's... a whole lot less new iron around.. except at a few places with race horses...

The road mowing crews always seem to have brand new stuff, mostly JDs and New Hollands. State money, I guess! Ns seem to be about the same prices in my area (Central Ohio). Maybe because it's spring and folks need to get some work done they are pushing the prices up in some areas(?)

I just paid $2000 for a 48 8n here in southern Michigan. I looked most of last year and that was the median. Theres a really rough Jubilee down the road for $3500

I've noticed asking prices on the rise here, too, but deals can still be had. I bought this 1955 850 in January for $2300. Price included a Ferguson cultivator which I sold the next weekend for $400 so I'm into it $1900. Works for me!

I don't follow the Ns so closely but I seem to notice other Fords on the rise.
A buddy of mine has me watching for a cheap 4000 (3 cyl) for him and I would say prices are up at least $1K over what they were 2 years ago when I was selling one.
It wasn't pretty but was a good solid machine with decent tin, good rubber and everything worked as it should. I had it on CL for at least a month before I finally took $4K for it.
Judging by prices I'm seeing in a 500 mile radius (searchtempest.com)I'm pretty sure I could get $4.5-$5K for it if I were selling it today.

Make sure you don't confuse asking price for selling price. It's hard to know what they are selling for. I've seen a lot of stupid asking prices.

Thats true. I looked at an 861 diesel last year. Seller said 5,500 and not a penny less. I talked to him a few minutes and he said well today I'll take 5,000......then he followed me back to my car and said I can let it go for 4500.
