8n question please

Hello all, long time lurker and have used a ton of info from this site and its helped tremendously!

But now I may have an issue, 52 model 8N, runs great, lift works great, etc etc., this week I was grading my driveway, which I have done many times before and noticed fluid coming out of the big cap next to the shifter boot. Then I noticed it leaking out of the right rear wheel, coming from around the axle nut. I pulled the cap off and the fluid was not full enough to be coming out of the top so I'm not sure whats going on and would prefer to deal with it before something expensive breaks.

Any suggestions from you gurus would be greatly appreciated!

hat level does your hydraulics dip-stick show?

...and as a backup check on level, just in case someone installed wrong dip-stick, you can remove the bottom bolt of the round cover containing dip-stick and fluid level should be right at that bolt hole. Drain until it will not drain out that bolt hole. Sounds like over full.

In addition to it being overfull.. it may be due to water in the system displacing the oil.

You"ve probably got water in your tranny, either leaking in around the shifter boot and/or condensation. Loosen the drain plug. The water, if any, will run out before the oil. If you leave it til it gets cold enough you won"t be able to shift it because of ice in the bottom of the case. BTDT
