8n rear end oil

Has anyone tried the yellow pail of oil from TSC...brand name is Extreme and it is for sump, lift, and gears. I bought two pails tonight since i got each for $26.

I left one pail outside tonight and the other inside. These cold wisconsin winter nights should let me know if the fluid thickens up.

If it meets the specs in the FO-4 manual, you should be good to go - check the 'Archives' for MANY responses. HTH

That oil need to be yellow metal friendly and also meet Ford 134D spec. If it does not meet both those do not use it unless you want to replace parts that can cost you big $$

on the back of the pail it lists different tractors. ford new holland 134 B, C is listed.
it does not say 134 D. i talked with the guy and he said that there were quite a few ford N guys buying this for their tractors.

now you guys have me second guessing. i know the other pail says 134 D but obviously it is still at TSC. Thoughts?

It's for sure an economy utf fluid.. however, still likely much better than what was available from 39-52

it states it was tested on a ford tw25, plus a jd tractor.. etc.. etc. listed as for use in warmer climates.. tells me a lil about it's cold pour point..

they make an ultra that is better, listing event he 134d spec..e tc.

it should be ok. it's not a premium fluid.. but it's better than a poke with a sharp stick.

well i read on the net now that it doesn't have cold weather properties that n's need to lift a blade. i would still like to know if it is yellow metal friendly. i'll probably exchange it tomorrow for their other pail that states 134-D on the back. i think that other pail is also a 10w20 viscosity which should definately be better than the 80w90 that is in it now. for the love of god that lift takes forever in 10F weather.

The M2C-134D is the last of four revisions progressing from M2C-134A, M2C-134B, and M2C-134C. Any of those specifications is more than suitable and are generally lumped together by CNH. And none of these generic oils claim to "conform" to any of those specifications. They claim they are are "suitable for use where xxx is specified". You need to dig a little deeper into the production specifciation sheet to see the actual properties of the oil if you want something you can really compare.

The Extreme Heavy Duty has the same physical properties as as any good quality generic UTF including CNH Ambra Multi-G 134. Additive packages are always a mystery and every mfg claims theirs is the best.

The Extreme Pure-Flo Economy fluid is exactly that - a lower grade economy fluid. It is a bit lighter (7.3 vs 9.2 cSt @100C) and according to the PDS has horrible viscosity index of 55 - one can only hope that is a typo. My guess is it is made from a low grade base oil and has a minimal additive package. Wouldn't be my first choice but unlikley it will cause any damage. I personally would avoid it and pay for something a little higher on the food chain. If that VI number isn't a typo it will be a rock when cold and their description clearly says "warm weather use".

thanks guys. i did check on the outside pail today and it is pretty fluid but the temp was about 14F and the pail was in the shade this a.m.

it is going back and i will get the 134 d in the more expensive pail. now, to try and get the 80w90 out. maybe a gallon of kerosene will help if i can get most of it out. no way to warm the rear end up either other than the sun.

The new pail I took home today is the Extreme Premium and states it meets 134-D on the back. Good?
