Is there a special procedure for replacing the points, condenser and rotor on an 8n side mount distributor? Thanks, Jim

No. Nothing special. I just changed them on my Jubilee. I did nothing differently than every other set Ive change on that vintage of engine.

Sounds like you are a newbie.Get the Owner/Operator's Manual; the 39-53 MPC; and the I&T FO-4 Manual. Can't be a Ford N Tractor Owner/Operator without the Essential
Manuals? Side Mount Distributor is tuned up different than the front mount unit. You will need a timing light to set the correct timing with the marks on the flywheel
accessed thru the side of engine inspection cover. Rebuilding the distributor is a standard procedure but the wiring for the rest of system varies by whether you have
a 6V/POS GRN system or a 12V switcheroo job. For 12V best to swap 6V coil to a 12V coil. I'll help ya out for now...

Hardest part is buying good parts, generally Standard Blue Streak. Buy other brands and you're possibly in for an education in ignition.
