Hi. on a Ford 8n, can anyone tell me how to get the bendix pin out that holds the bendix to the starter? also, i turned the new bendix in my hand, it extended, now it won"t go back in. will it go back in when installed?, or how can i make it return? i probably sound like an ijut, but HELP!! thanks, mike

Mike......heres how I remove the hollow rollpin. I gently clamp the starter UPSIDE DOWN and lean on it with my armpit while holding a driftpin or nail to gently hammer the EXPOSED rollpin. Simple, eh?

Re-installation is a reversal of the removal ...except... grind a wedge or point on one end of the rollpin so it is easier to start in the starter hole. Simple, eh?

Playing with yer Bendix, eh? BAD BOY! NO-NO!!! Now you've been scolded, heres what I do. With the Bendix mounted, I hold it up to the wirebush on my grinding wheel and it will retract. Simple, eh?

Others claim you can insert the extended Bendix and when your tractor starts, it will return. Iff'n you don't haffa "egg" relief ground at about 1-2 o'clock, you can't do that. Simple, eh? ......Dell

Just install it extended. It'll crank then re-set itself. No need to go grinding egg-shaped hole. Tractor was not designed with an egg-shaped hole so why does it need one now? Had starter off of mine and my Dad's many times. No egg shaped hole on either one and won't be..

LOL, yea me too and I imagine my egg-shaped hole would turn out that way too. Sent you another MS boy customer a few days ago. He"ll be calling if he hadn"t already.

Roolpin Help. Im also trying to remove the bendix, and mine has the roll pin aprtially covered by a thick washer. The washer won't move, or at least I havenot foudn a way. No matter whther the bendix is extended or not, the washer is in the way of remvoing the pin. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance
