8n Starter Help

Good afternoon

Does anybody have an illustration or can explain how to use toothpicks to hold brushes back to put armature back in starter ?

I have tried but cannot figure it out...thanks in advance

I've never used toothpicks to hold the brushes. Simply pull the brushes "up" and cock the end of the spring round to the side or end of each brush. When starter is assembled push brushes down, then use a hooked tool to locate the springs back on top of each brush.

There are plenty of ways to put the starter back together. Some folks use alligator clips, toothpicks or dental floss to hold the brushes back. What Bob said works best for me. Pull the brushes up thru the holes that the band was covering. Use long nose pliers to pull the brush springs up. Move each one to the right and let them rest on the brush holder. Put each brush into the holder. Pull up each spring and place it on each brush. Put the gasket and metal band back on.
