I just put new carb on my 8n. It starts beautiful but only runs for short period of time then shuts down. After a while I tried to pull choke on when it was shutting down and it took right off again running
well then it would shut down, pull choke and it kept running well.Help!!!!!

Dmort ,It sounds like your carburetor is to lean.Try opening up the front main jet adjustment one full turn and see if that helps you out.

What was 'wrong' with your old/original carb? ALL FORD major components were designed to be rebuilt over and over. It should always be your first choice and leave the cheap Cheena made carp on the shelf in Beijing. There is no testing/QC in Cheena so if you just slapped on the new one out of the box, no surprises it fails. Did you perform the Fuel Flow Test? Do you have your old M/S unit we can rebuild? If you don't want it I'll buy it. Email me.

Probable NO-GO fuel issue causes are: plugged vent, plugged screens, plugged sediment bulb, dirty gas tank, dirty carb, and more. There are three OEM screens in the fuel system. Two are on the Sediment Bulb Assembly; the 3rd is on the brass elbow inside the carb where the fuel line connects to. SEE PICTURES. I wouldnt be shoving anything, wires especially, up into the sediment bulb assembly. You have a vertical fine mesh screen on the inlet port inside the tank that you can damage. Best solution is to remove the tank and thoroughly clean.

Check for a full stream of fuel coming from the tank at the fitting into the carb, then check for a full stream at the float bowl or visa-versa then try adjusting carb. in my opinion buying a new carb is foolish when the original is so easy to rebuild and trouble shoot.
