8N steering problem

I'm sure this is covered someplace in this forum but I'll try it anyway. I have an early model 8N. Difficult to turn and when it goes all the way right or left, the steering is impossible to get back without somehow moving the front wheels manually (kicking them). Help.

Have you tried to get grease in the spindles. Jack the tractor up to remove any wt on ft wheels then grease and get some to come out the bottom as thats where they can freeze up. Mite need to disconnect the tierods so you can move the spindles easier.

Number one thing to check is make sure the splines in the steering wheel are not striped,,, EZ to check,,, if you can turn the wheel and the nut don"t move its more than likly the steering wheel splines are striped,,, I have seen this happen few times

If its not the problem make the call to Roland Jackson,,, free good info is hard to beat
