8n tractor lift problems

lift works off&on mostly off.lift clears ground with plow attached just enough to turn. will go all the way up sometimes. but will drop when clutch is engaged,and will not return to highest point. please help. thank you

Tyrone:

You have one or more internal leaks and probably other issues as well.

If you want your lift to operate correctly you will need to remove the cover, rebuild/replace the cylinder/piston and replace the cam follower pin and any other worn parts.

I would advise thoroughly cleaning the sump while the lift cover is off and installing new oil.

The pump may need attention as well but there is insufficient information to determine.
