8N with 2N front wheels?

Hi all, I've got a 48 8N (front mount) serial #27673. I need to get a front wheel, the current one is rusted out and won't hold the bead. It's a 19X3.5 inch,5 lug with a 9.75 inch hub hole (or whatever its called). Looking for a new one, I end up with a 2N replacement with these measurements. Is something screwy or do I just end up getting the 2N replacement? Or alternatively I could get a rim blank but the old one is riveted on and all the new blanks say weld it together. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Paul in Vermont

yuo sure you got an 8n.. or you got a 2n/9n with an 8n engine?

in any case. if you got the wide hubs.. you get the wheels for it.

you CAN cut the centers out and weld them in new rim blanks IF you can weld and have torches, and the price difference is worth it to you to do so.

I've been going on the assumption that its an 8N. Looked at John Smith's page: it has a 4 speed tranny, with a Huppe Dual drive; position control lever under the seat; has the newer, non-I beam radius rods; bothe brakes are on the right.

Also, I dont have any problems cutting and welding. Was just wondering if the rivets holes on the old one would interfere with the welding of the new one.

The ford tractor parts book lists the wheel as part # 1015. for the 8N there were A, B2 and C variations depending on the tractor use.

I have welded the rivet holes holes to the new rim first to line it up first as a spot weld. Then weld the center to the new rim once it is lined up with no wobbles to the rim bolted to the hub and spun.

My 48 8n also has the large hubs the serial # shows it was built late 47 but the width of the rim is 6" if I remenber correct. my 2n has narrow rim I believe 3"
