8n won't haul

My 8n (6volt, side mt dist) will spit and sputter when doing heavy labor. (I do that myself sometimes) When I was tilling it actually pulled it down far enough to stall it out. At that point it wouldn"t restart unless we pulled it. Got any suggestions?

tommy........enny time you have running "issues" change yer sparkies. Recommend AutoLite 437's gapped 0.025".

But it sounds like time fer "tune-up". NEW POINTS (0.025") are eazy to change.

Keep yer itchy-twitchy fingers off'n them handy-dandy carb tweek'ums. .......Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Is the governor openning up? Try a peice of wire from inside butterfly shaft, with the other endaround your finger, so you can "Over ride", governor to "fully open". If it helps, then might want to check out governor.
Second issue of "pulling to start" "when warm', sounds like "weak starter circuit-clean all terminals-battery charge-rebuild starter-corrode or pitted starter switch-same on selonoid ?

Start w/ a tune-up on the tractor. (points, plugs, condenser, rotor & cap & set the timing)

You drive; let the boy do the work.

once you have the electrical under control, do a few carb tests. sntch throttle open. does it sputter up to rpm.. if so.. could be lean. or does is stumble and gurgle.. if soo.. could be too rich.

also read plug color.

Exactly the way my tractor ran with a fouled spark plug. But, it had been running great and then suddenly would not pull the disc harrow. Went ahead and replaced all 4 plugs, after isolating the bad one, and it ran great again......

Another thing that will cause that is gunk in the secret fuel screen in the carb inlet elbow. Or a clogged fuel tank vent. Runs fine until it needs to suck more gas...

Good luck.
