Well the make-over is complete, I am pleased with the old girls new look, but have found a new problem, a pin hole leak in the gas tank right above the #1 plug, any way to fix those, or am I doomed to replace tank...

Hi James --

Radiator shops can fix it. I have seen epoxy gas tank fix at NAPA .
Might try that first

good luck !!!

It looks great !!!!!

I used an epoxy fix on a gas tank years ago and it held for a VVVEEERRRYYY long time. Actually it never did leak again. You just have to be sure that the area to be fixed is very clean. Just follow the directions and you can't go wrong. Worth a try.

Looks good. Some shops will line the inside of the tank with an epoxy like liner. I had a buddy get his bike tank done. I had a gas tank on an old Buick fiberglassed at a shop once, they did a good job and it never leaked. You can buy the epoxy sticks that you knead and apply kind of like JB weld in a stick. You see the stuff advertized on tv amazing putty or something like that. I was at Napa today and they've got four or five kinds of stuff(epoxy) to fix steel plastic etc.
I've welded steel tanks off snowmobiles before make sure the gas is all out then fill with water. I'd try an epoxy if it was me. If mine leaks I'll clean it up and fiberglass the whole tank with a couple of layers of mat. (I've got lots of F/G materials around from working on my boat. May be cost prohibitive for you where you could probly buy a tank for what it would cost for the materials to F/G it)
Which ever you choose to do for a repair make sure its clean and dry. Use a brake cleaner to clean the surface as gas leaves a residue.

Like suggested, there are good epoxies that work even while there is gas running out. There are probably more holes going to show up soon though. Get ready to r/r it soon. HTH
