Could someone call me so i can get some assistance on my 8N with front mount dist. It just wont run right, misses to much or runs rough. New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil, points, condensor, exhaust manifold, rebuilt carb. Has spark at all plugs. Compression is #1-100,95,105,105. I pull wires 1-2 off with hardly no change in the way it runs. Sprayed starting fluid around manifold gasket and seems to be no leaks. 715-412-1969 available all day on Tuesday.

Stick around here. I'm sure someone will chime in with something helpful.
How about fuel flow?
fuel contamination?
Tank vent? (loosen fuel cap)
Ignition switch? (jumper with a piece of wire)
Contacts clean and shiny on electrical connections?
Just some suggestions, I'm new here too.
Good luck.

Are you ABSOLUTELY sure the wires are arranged correctly in firing order?

Wires are on right. Rebuilt dist with new bushing on top and new weight and spring kit. I also put 12v single wire alt and resister. Where do i put the jumper wire on switch and for why? I will try to loosen cap. It has good compression just when i take some spark plug wires off it doesnt change. Is there much to do with turning dist. Do you think distributer is put in 180 off? Dont think it would run even that good??

" Where do i put the jumper wire on switch and for why?" That would be done by connecting the two posts on the ignition switch to see if it's defective. Yours isn't, so don't bother.

" It has good compression"
How do you know that? what were the readings, wet & dry?

" Do you think distributer is put in 180 off?"
No, it's not 180* out.

OK, lets start from the top.

I gather from your question " Is there much to do with turning dist." that you meant timing, right? In other words, you don't know how to set the timing, correct?

duckie.......you ask......"Is there much to do with turning dist. Do you think distributer is put in 180 off?"........uh? with 2-bolts to hold the frontmount distributor on the block, its gonnna bee VERY difficult to turn yer distributor or put it 180 out. ......sheesh.

Iff'n you mean TIMING, would you believe timing the 2-bolt frontmount distributor is done on the kitchen table??? 1/4" drillbit for feeler gauge. You doubt? Gittcher FO-4 manual out, it has pictures fer the reading challenged .......respectfully, Dell, the amazed

I checked compression and did not add oil. 1-100,95,105,105. Cant the distributer be put and the shaft be 180 off??? not the housing smarty?? I think its boiling down to a broken intake valve spring.??

Remove the distributor and see if you can reinstall 180 degrees off with out breaking something. the drive tang is off set so that it can not be put on wrong.

" Cant the distributer be put and the shaft be 180 off??"

You're going to get a lot better answers to your questions if you would use the correct terminology.

You asked if the distributor could be 180*. Now, you're telling us you meant the PLATE, is that correct?

And, you will also get better answers if you answer the questions we ask you.

Did you set the timing on it or not?

Do the compression test again correctly, and you will see if it's an intake valve. Or, you can pull the valve covers & look.
