9 hp Briggs

I have a 9 hp briggs engine with the old rope start, can it be changed over to a rewind starter?

I found an older model B&S engine in bad shape, had the up-draft carb on it, and had the recoil type starter that B&S used for many years on a lot of different engines. Thats the starter with the square shank that will turn one way, freely, but lock up when you pull the rope to start it.
I think they are all the same, for engines from 3 to 12 h.p.
