I bought an M at a sale a few weeks ago with the intention of fixing up and selling. I bought without running or driving so didn't have any idea what I was getting. Long story short it was one that had the cracked housing under the bull gear that had been repaired but it was a good repair. After getting it running I took it for a drive and the transmission was in need of repair. Noisy rear en and jumps out of 5th. Tear it down and low and behold it has a nine speed but the cable has been broken. Transmission has about 4 gears with missing teeth but the nine speed setup seems to be in excellent condition. Decided to just swap out the whole rear end for a good used 5 speed. My question is the 9 speed set up worth anything as I will probably be scrapping the bad parts. Any ideas?

If the input shaft or 4th and 5th slider is the problem with it jumping out of 5th it will drop the worth down. Also if teeth are bad on the 3rd or 4th gear on bottom shaft, also a drop. Those parts are M&W.

I read a article guy on the guy that started M @ W Gear Co,[Mienert] that he was very quality conscious, and that he wanted those gears he made of equal quality or better than IH's !!
