Will a 901 Wide Front Fit a Ford 950?

Yes... but you need the later style 2-piece front pedistal. I dont know if any of th e900 series came with them, or only the newer (701, 901, 2/4000RC) had the 2-piece.

Is this a two piece pedestal? The front part of the tractor bolts on just under the fan blades.

I can't tell from those shots. Sorry. It's been a while since I've had one of that series, but I think you can tell by looking at it straigt on from the front. I'll take a look at some pics I have. If I have one that shows what to look for, I'll post it.

The front end shown will not work with the 901 wide front. I have one and it looks like this.

Can you take a pic from the front of the tractor , then we can determine if it is a one pc or two pc pedestal ?
If in fact it is a one pc pedestal I would be interested in it as my one pc has a broken spindle on one side .

This photo is the front of the tractor from the right side. The blue thing at the top is the front brush guard. The big chunk of cast iron between the axle and the front engine casting bolts right up around the narrow front pivot steering flange. The pivot flange turns the yoke that is connected to the tie rods for steering.

As mentioned by someone else, the early row crops had a solid front pedestal that looked like this:

The later design, described in the 1957 Running Production Changes shop manual supplement is an interchangeable design and looks like this:

If you have the early design and want to swap it for a later wide front, you will need to also get the newer front chassis part. Once you do, you'll be able to swap from wide front to narrow front to single tire front much more easily.

Here are some pics of a wide front assembly that includes the front chassis parts you need. Yes it's mine and yes it's for sale. I've had several interested buyers over the last 3 or 4 years, but freight costs always kill the deal. If you can drive to Utah to pick it up (or have a friend that will) we can talk.
