901 transmission swap

New to the forum here guys. Will the transmission from a 900 interchange with a 901? My 901 is 4 spd and I have found a 900 with a 5 spd. Looking to get live pto into the 901 to make it more user friendly for me. Thanks for your help.

Yes it should interchange. There might be an issue with the splined coupler where the tranny output shaft hooks to the pinion shaft. Others here will advise you there.
You will want to get the block plate that went with the the tranny. They were a different thickness. I think the 900 was 1/8" and the 901 1/4". (I might have that backwards.) And of course the flywheel and double clutch must stay with the tranny.

Also be aware that not all 5-speeds have live PTO... check the model/serial number stamped on the bellhousing... a 960 has live PTO, but a 950 does not.

Check the model number of it. If it is a 960 it has live PTO if a 950 then you still will not have live PTO just one more gear. Model number is on the left side below the battery. There is a flat spot there and the model number is the top number and the lower one the serial number

This is correct information. The transmissions from the X00 tractors (and the X01 tractors up to about SN 14000) had a coarse spline output shaft and the later X01"s had a fine spline output shaft. To mate a X00 transmission to a X01 pinion shaft requires cutting and welding 2 halves from the coupling sleeves. And you have to use the block plate that came with the transmission.

should besame pto shaft. for the 4/5 spd models

however I was thinking htere might be a brake pedal issue depending on year / model.
