930 CK Cooling System Capacity

Manual says the cooling system holds 10.5 gallons but 7.5 is all it holds even after thermostat"s open. Anyone know the correct capacity?

Did you drain the block before refilling? It is also not uncommon to have so much sediment and goop in there it takes up that much space. I have torn down VAC's that were packed solid around 3&4 and were half way up #2, it held about 2 gallons instead of 3.

I thought I had it all drained, apparently not! Antifreeze that came looked pretty clean so I doubt I have much sludge buildup. Thanks for the reply.

Did you pull the drain plug out of the side of the block? Most guys are here are afraid of breaking something so they leave it alone. I made a fitting to put a garden hose with the end cut off on it and force water into that hole, almost always get some grit out.
