930 coolant leaking from overflow

Well it finally got nice enough here to get the 930 out and run it for a while. I took her for about a 10 mile road trip and then hooked up to the 12 foot JD disk and worked up the two gardens. I've only had the tractor for about a month now and when I got it it was about a half gallon low on coolant. So I filled it up. I have been noticing that it leaks coolant from the overflow tube every time that I drive it. The temp gauge works and the hottest I have gotten it is only about 165 degrees. There is no water in the oil! It's not spitting out foamy coolant either. Any ideas? I didn't think much about it at first, but now I'm getting a little nervous. That's the worst thing about getting a new tractor: getting use to all the different sounds without freaking out! :) thanks for any help. Sorry for the long post.

P.S. While working it on the disk the leak didn't get any worse and after letting it cool down the leak stops.

Antifreeze expands as it warms up and if it does not blow out foamy or forcibly and finds a level where it will stay let it alone. Any system will do the same if topped off into the neck. I would make sure the pressure cap is doing it's job.

For what it's worth, I had a 770 Gasser that was a real pain to get burped so I put a universal coolant recovery tank and a pressure cap designed for a coolant recovery system on it, end of trouble.

My 830's and 930 seem to settle with about 1/2" to 1" on top of the core. As long as there is liquid covering the thermostat it will be OK.

Thanks guys for the info. I did overfill it up to the top so I knew that it would spit out some. I couldn't see any fluid in it when I got it, so like I said, I added some and it only took 1/2 gallon. I'll just leave it be and keep an eye on it. Thanks, Dan
