Needing transmission parts, in the form of a rebuild kit or individually.

One dealer says it's a Borg-Warner 77MM, and another dealer said it's a NV1500... both dealers used the VIN and came up with different answers, but they both agreed that nothing is available from GM.

Is there any obvious difference, in appearance ,between the two? How can I identify it?

Going to need bearings and syncros for sure, and probably an input shaft (spigot for pilot bearing worn out.) thanks, Fritz

(6 on up had the NV 1500 Prior had the T5 Borgwarner (77MM). Best I can find But there is a possible chance it was replaced. Look for images on the web of both and compare. Jim

The 5-speed NV3500 was used up to 1994. Known as first gen blazers.

T5 was used from 1995 until 2005 in second gen blazers.

If memory serves me correctly.

Lots of help, thank you gentlemen. It is a 2.2 engine and a 5 speed. Whether it's been swapped, I just don't know.

It is also aluminum case, I thought the NV3500 was cast iron.

Not a GM expert OF ANY KIND, but the NV3500 is aluminum and is considered light duty. I’ve got a 1990 K1500 with it. When it would fail, some guys would put in a cast iron NV4500 for heavier towing duty.
A lot of NV3500 transmissions fail because people add the wrong oil to it.

No GM expert here by any means but I've been told by a few people that own them with the aluminum case they are throw away's when they fail, the bearing will never stay because the case is soft and they'll spin. All hearsay information and worth what you paid for it.
