9400 jd combine

Need to repair feeder house floor on jd 9400 combine.Looking for advice on method of repairing

I'd strip it down replace or weld/patch a new metal floor in if its bad.
I absolutely would NOT put one of those poly floors in a feeder house.

Just CURIOUS here, no "pro" or con" of my own, but would like to know the background to your comment.

You can cut out the old sheet and then reweld a new sheet in. I often just go buy a used feeder house in better shape. The JD 9400 and 9500 use the same feeder house. The last one I bought without the drives for $750.

I bought a 1680 that had a lot of new parts including a poly feeder house floor. It was a terrible combine, it plugged the rotor and ate $375 rotor belts at an alarming rate It couldn't run half the speed of my other combine in the same field. I had Case dealer out and they thought it was the rotor VS pulley and re built it. That cost me about $3800 and made no difference. Then the two speed rotor gearbox piled up. I replaced that. It cost me about $2700 and the combine still wouldn't feed.
The cone, cage, rotor, vanes, elephant ears all looked good. The rock beater was good and it had new feeder house chain. It wasn't the header because I'd switched them. The only obvious difference between the two combine and non standard part was that poly floor. Looking up in the feeder house it looked pretty good, but if you looked really hard it had a small barely noticeable bump in the middle. I decided to tear it out. They must have taken the feeder house apart to fit it. It was about 1/2 inch thick white poly, one complete sheet, and fitted exactly the size of the feeder house floor. It was bolted every 6 inches and had black sealer all the way around. When I tore it out there was about a bu/50lbs of dirt and canola jammed under it. You would never have known that just looking up the feeder house at it. The original metal floor underneath had a tiny hole which was probably why the poly had been fitted. I mig'd a patch over the small hole and the combine ran fine after that.

Thanks, I only have 1500 Hrs on separator and still looks good.

it's been probably 10 years or more since I did the 9500 we had at the time but john deere made a neat insert that laid right in there perfectly and then I think it was tack welded but I was at neighbors last fall when they did a 9510 and they got the insert and it was bolted somehow on theirs..

Was at the J D dealer today and they cannot find a insert panel in there computer .If you could give me more information it would be appreciated.Thank you Lloyd

On our 7720 I just bought a new piece of sheet steel and welded it in on top of the old piece. Feeds wheat corn and beans just fine.

New feederhouse floor is AH159703. 938.78 USD from mother Deere. Can also get it aftermarket from A&I, Worthington ag parts ect, for a few hundred less. Unbolt the old one and bolt the new one in, simple.
