took the trans cover off of my 960 and noticed the cluster gear set on top was moving front to back about .060in.pulled the cluster gear set out and back bearing is looking kinda rough.the big ends of the rollers are wore badly.looks like the output gear is the race for this bearing and looks ok.i have the manual and only thing i could find on endplay for this cluster gear is 8 to 10 lbs preload, which means no endplay.if when i put a new bearing on and there is still endplay, where do i shim it.

Do you have the I&T manual? If so Figure FO153, item # 29 is the shim package.
Do you have the Ford manual? If so Figure 13 in the 5 speed section shows a "Gasket" in front of the "Output shaft bearing retainer assembly". This so called "gasket" is the shim package.

thanks for the help guys.wasnt sure about that one.i.m gettin all the parts to put the trans back together next week.
