960 hydraulics

Hi, i just put a single action hydraulic cylinder on my 960. I don't know why but it seems to be really weak. I can't raise my chisel plow. Here's basically where I hooked it up.

Isn't that the type where you have to chain the 3 point down?

How exactly are you trying to lift the chisel plow? With the 3pt or is it a pull type? If it is a pull type you need to chain the 3pt arms down to build pressure when using that port in that manner.

That connection is plumbed into the test port of the blocking plate. That port was designed to connect a pressure gauge to measure the pressure when the 3 point lift was lifting a heavy load. It can also be used to provide power to a single acting hydraulic circuit, but the pressure won't build unless you chain the lift arms down or connect something that is very heavy to the lift arms. The heavier the load, the more work that port can do, but the maximum strength from that port is only achieved if the weight on the arms is too heavy for the lift arms to lift at all. That is why most folks simply chain the lift arms down.

Thanks for all the replies.... After chaining the lift arms down, my tractor had no problem lifting the chisel. Seems faster than i thought too.
