960 leveling arm length

Hi all,
I'm trying to sort out the the 3 pt setup on my 960. In order to get the 3 pt level I have to run the right side leveling box in the first hole on the right lift arm and the left non adjustable leveling arm in the 2nd hole of the lift arm. Max length on the adjustable side she can't make level using matching holes.

It came to me with a hodge podge check chain setup which I have now corrected with a new kit. But the right side continues to stay slack and drifts outward due to the mismatch in lift arm holes.

Adjustable rt side 24.5 min to 28" max
Left side is 29" pin to pin.

I am wondering if I have inherited an incorrect replacement part here or I am missing something?

That is indeed an incorrect replacement part.
It works on the newer 65 to 74 series I believe.

It appears your leveling lift linkage is for a utility instead of a row crop. Such as an 860 rather than a 960.

Why is the chain in the second hole on the left side and on the first hole on the right side. That would.... make the left chain too tight.. It has even push the left rear "rowcrop hanger" forwards toward the front off the tractor...

Looks like you all diagnosed this one correctly. The stamped part number on that fork is c5nn-585, which is from the 65-74 series, 15" long and for the utility tractors. Now to track down the part number for the 18" fork.

I hadn't noticed how this pushes the hanger forward, but explains why implements were both hard to level but also angled.

Would also make one side life more than the other side so you are now officially a member of the kattiwompus club... SO it would nearly be impossible to level it at different heights due to one arm lifting more than the other... We all have been there one way or another. Lift arms... need to be longer for bigger tires, so the implement does not hit the 9 o-clock position of the rear tires as it comes up...Or the 3 o-clock position if your left handed.

Thanks again for all the help everyone. I have a part on the way from Cooks. Hopefully this solves it.

I did also want to note the lady at Alexander Ford was very helpful. While she didn't have a used fork, she indicated that the leveling box from the later 3 cylinder 4000s would also work. Hope that might help someone with a 700/900 row crop in the future.
