9600 Ford weight

Can anyone give me a weight on a 9600 Ford tractor? I have a freind with a tow company that has one in storage for a closed mobile home plant. THursday shed going to the scrapper. THe owners say they will take scrap price. I m in no shape to buy it but am trying to find it a home. It has a steering issue but I think its low on fluid. Its a super runner and has new brakes. It moved about 6 mobile home a day in a plant. It has a cab but Im not sure about AC on it.

Many thanks in advance TL

My book says 11,860#, unballasted. Doesn't say if that was for an open or cab model, so maybe add some for the cab and any cast weights, but then subtract the weight of the tires... it will be between 5 1/2 and 6 tons. Local price is $225/ton for unprepared, call it 6 tons and it would be $1350. I'm not looking for one, but I'd buy it at that price. As Cowguy said - where is it??

Its in Burnsville MS. It has a concrete balast box on the back but that wont be counts as the scrapper will dock it and charge a disposal fee.
Id buy it to pull a roller with but I spent my toy money on a new milling machine for the shop.

Well, trucking from MS to WI kills the possibility of me buying it.
Soundguy - you reading this? MS isn't TOO far from you...

Agree on the weight but you gotta remember they don't pay as much for cast (gray iron) as they do for steel.
Don't tell trucker...

i just saw it. i wouldnt mind having that either. would have no problem fixing that. its in better shape than mine and it has duals. the cab would come off though. i think its been painted though and my paint is original.

Just looked. Sounded good until the part about coolant leaking into the engine. Sounds like a bore-and-sleeve candidate. Overpriced in that case.

Might not need a bore/rebuild.
Was talking to the old school engine machinest that Ken and I use and he was telling me about those 401s how not only do they cavitate into the cylinders but also will cavitate into the oil galley above the oil pump. He has fixed a bunch of them by epoxying a new pipe into the galley where it goes up from the pump. A couple of them the owners have put several thousand hours on them after he fixed it that way.
If a guy was interested in the tractor I could put him in touch with the machinest.

Taylor, I am just south of you. I might be interested in the tractor. Give me a call if you can-662-542-9915
