971 indicator lights

I could tell when starting cold this AM. When I got done yesterday evening The SOS press. light was on unless I revved it to around 1,400. This morning it was more like normal, it would go out at around 750RPMs. After running for about an hour it needed to be up around 1,100 to go out.

. . . .And my SOS indicator light hasn't worked for years. Bulb is good, apparently the switch inside the rear housing doesn't work any more. Is it a big job to change?

Are you sure the wire is good? Switch can be changed on the early SOS through the access cover on the left side of the center housing. I would not call it an easy task, however!

Maybe someone who knows will see this. A few years ago there was a discussion here about that pressure switch. The final word was that after the switch was installed in many SoS transmissions that Ford found that the make/break point was too high and that it did not need that amount of pressure to work properly and with no ill effects. So there is no need to worry about a light that is on.
