9N-chains on mower

SO this is the unit I just purchased; my mower is on the ground and chains are loose....dont look right to me or is it? Thanks

Wrong chains. The chains in your pictures are check chains to keep the lift arms from hitting the tires. You want limiter chains like these:

I would still recommend using the stabilizer bars. My stabilizer bars are home made and the limiter chains are integrated. The 8N has position control, but I set the height with the chains and put the touch control lever all the way down taking the load off the hydraulics and leaving more horsepower for the mower.

I have the Zane Thang on my 2N for elevation control. Some say it's hard on the system with something heavy that's pushing back a lot, but has worked great for me. I switch implements too much to mess with the limiter chains each time. Search for Zane Thang --- lots of posts on that in this forum.

Deano got you right with limiter chain info. I attached a couple pics for your reference.

The angle of your mower looks correct, you want it lower in the front than the rear. But, the whole mower needs to be up off the ground a bit.

Two keyhole brackets pinned to top link as shown in this picture.

This picture shows how my chains are hooked on my MF202, but it is the same on my 8N. If you're wondering about the lynch pins in the chains, they are a good way to make a small change in the length of the chains to get the mower level. Just stick a lynch pin through two of the links. It makes small adjustments when just using the next link in the top bracket is either too much or two little.
