9N/fan

New purchase.9N (1941). I've noticed the the fan
on this tractor pushes air out toward the front.
That seems badkwards to me. Anyone have any idea
as to what's going on here.?

The fan with the reverse-pitch blades was an OPTION for the Fords.

Some folks felt cooler with the hot air blowing AWAY from the in HOT weather.

There were probably other reasons they were made, some said to keep debris from being sucked into the FRONT of the radiator. I don't know what difference the reversed-pitch fan would have made... it would simply have blown the debris against the BACK of the radiator!

They are somewhat collectable.

Back in the 80's, Binder re-discovered that feature, and used it on their new "88 Series" of tractors, just before they esentially went broke and were swallowed by Tenneco.

New Idea Uni Harvesters had a reverse fan too,but they had side screens to keep out the debris.
