9n front loader

I am going to buy a old front loader for my 1941 9N and am wondering if it will have enough power to pick up and move around loose topsoil and gravel also about how many pounds will it be able to haul around. It comes with the front pump and everything it was taken off another 9N.

of course actual lift will depend on system relief pressure and hyd cyl size.. but in general.. I'd imagine getting up to 1000# out of a 2 cyl loader... use counderweight.. will be hard to steer.. might leave good ruts in the ground too.

Yes but I need to reach over a short wall to back fill and thought the loader would work better and it is only $150.00. It is a twin cylinder model with a trip bucket and tube frame. The ground is so hard right now I don't thick it will leave any tracks.

You said "back fill". So, is that loose dirt ready to be picked up? I have a hydraulic cylinder on my bucket and I've always wondered how those trip buckets would be for digging.

I can set the front of the bucket where I want it for scraping up dirt depending on how hard the dirt is at the time. Any comments on those trip buckets?

Just my opinion but I think you'd be better off with a hydraulic bucket. The N's don't have a lot of digging power. I do a lot of dirt road repair with mine and it does what I need.

Remember that the N's front ends weren't built for a loader. A bucket full of wet dirt weighs more than you would think. Drive slow with a bucket of dirt and don't get that front end bouncing around. I don't try to get my bucket to the point of being full. I'd rather take a little longer to accomplish what I'm trying to do than see the front of my tractor sitting on it's oil pan.
