9N Front mount no spark problem

A few recent posts regarding this problem. New plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor (rotor was reinstalled), points, condenser. Removed coil and distributor and performed continuity testing per Bruce's advice. Everything checked out. Evidently has to be bad battery at this point?

Check your ignition switch, the ignition wiring, battery ground where positive cable bolts to battery box. make sure the interface connection is very clean, and check battery connection . Then check negative battery terminal and clamp and check wire going to coil and thru resistor(if it has one). Make sure all these connections are clean and spotless. A bad resistor will also cause you this problem. Remember you only have 6 volts and a little resistance here(voltage drop) and there and you end up with no current to coil.
An inexpensive analog volt meter is invaluable for this work. Digital ones are not.Also helpful is a 6 volt bulb with two pigtails and alligator clips is also very useful.

use a volt meter on thge battery and no starter.. manually spin the dizzy.. see what you get.

When I replied to your first post, I said:

Next, make sure your battery is fully charged.
Don't guess; put it on a charger.

You need a strong battery to:

1. Close the solenoid

2. Spin the starter

3. Engage the bendix

4. Provide voltage to the coil.

As the battery gets weaker, the first thing to fail is your spark. If the battery is almost totally dead, all you will hear is the solenoid clicking.

So............

Did you do that? Is the battery fully charged?

There is a reason I suggested that & said to do it first, before you proceeded any further. No matter how will you install things or how good the parts are, the tractor will NOT start w/o a good battery.

Check out tip # 39 as Harold suggested.

Then check out tip # 43. Jump it; the battery in the tractor will probably have enough current for the ignition circuit AFTER you charge it. The jumper battery will spin the starter.

Try a hot wire from the battery ignition side to the coil. If you have spark then the problem is from the coil back to the battery and ignition switch or a wire etc is bad. If when hot wired still not spark the problem is in the distributor ad maybe a bad condenser or points not conducting power or even a bad coil

Yes, I have charged the battery but I must admit it is a weak battery. I always charge it before attempting to start (since I have had this problem) but I know it has a bad cell per the hydrometer. I figured after charging, since the engine turns over good, that it would be good enough to provide spark as well.
