Yesterday many good replies on my 9N front mount no spark situation. I have battery voltage to top of coil. How do I check with points open and closed? If I have battery voltage at top of coil then points must be open, and if I rock backward or forward in gear that will close the points and cut the reading in half if everything is at it should be?

hat's about it

With spark there are a number of things that can cause no spark.
#1 points being bad or corroded.
#2 a short in the distributor grounding the system
#3 Bad condenser
#4 bad rotor
#5 bad cap
#6 bad coil which is common on the front mount
#7 bad plug wires
Doing things like opening and closing the points by hand with the ignition on and watching and listening for spark at the points is a good starting point and then go from there

"and if I rock backward or forward in gear that will close the points"
Yes, or you could rotate the engine with a ratchet and a 15/16" socket on the crank nut (unless you have a front mounted hydraulic pump).
