9n ignition switches

Any opinions about the source of the best quality ignition switches?I've read comments on the Forum re poor quality ignition switches that are out there.I just had to replace a switch that was maybe 2 months old.Not sure what tractor parts site I got it from.

I'm blown away by the frequency of "bad ignition switch" remarks.......what ever I got at the local auto supply back in ~1970 must have been a good one....still working & power lights through it, too.

get a marine grade or milspec grease potted switch that matches your application if you live in an environment that eats switches quickly. ( wet / humid / hot ) salt spray.. etc.. )

i've replaced a couple 50's era ignition switches.. but the new ones I've never replaced again.

have been thru my share of 'cheap' 10a toggle switches for headlamps on some of my units where I didn't want to put on a 5$ pull switch :) vs a 1$ toggle. been thru maybee 4 of those over the last 10 ys...

I generally spray my non sealed switches with a shot of silicone spray, or grease them with the tip of a grease needle.. I've never lost a greased switch.. ho-made or oem..

my tractors live under cover too.. might be different out in the elements.

of the factory original or vintage switches that died.. most simply fell apart or turned loose in the barrel, vs actually losing continuity when 'on'.

I picked-up a light switch and ignition switch on a pass through TSC not long ago. The shaft pulled completely out of the light switch the second time I used it. I couldn"t believe how it was made. Cheap tin innards were just crimped into a groove on the shaft.

The ignition switch is still working but that"s the last electrical parts I"m buying from TSC

"...that"s the last electrical parts I"m buying from TSC"

Amen.

I get hydraulic fluid from them (when it's on sale) & sediment bowl screens/gaskets. And straw hats. That's it.

David....the 9-2ns have different ign.swxs. than the 8ns.99% of folks buy the 8n swx. This swx. will work, but not without mods. Most of them are junk.If you want a good swx.that is designed for your tractor, get the 9n3686 version available at nnalert if not available at YT. don
